Scouters Mountain Restoration Project
Portland Metro Parks and Greenspaces
This past summer IRM assisted Portland Metro in designing and implementing a large scale restoration project on a recently acquired piece of property known as Scouter’s Mountain, near Happy Valley, Oregon. IRM began the restoration process on 35 acres of land that had been severally infested by English hawthorn and invasive fruit trees. IRM’s Lightfoot™ was utilized to masticate the invasive trees.IRM supervised a 20 man restoration crew hired to cut, pile and loop-scatter the plant material to create open spaces for the planting of native plants. The stumps of all invasive trees were treated with herbicide to ensure that they didn’t re-sprout. IRM is planning a follow up treatment during the summer of 2013 to treat the seedlings.
