Integrated Resource Management is a full service forestry-consulting firm based in Philomath OR. IRM conducts various forest inventory, timber cruising and timber sale layout projects throughout the PNW, PSW, and Alaska. Currently, IRM is conducting a large-scale stand level inventory for the ODF, as well as numerous smaller inventories for smaller private clients. In addition, IRM manages numerous small parcels of forestland in Oregon and Washington.


Forest Inventory Technician

IRM currently has an opening for a Forest Inventory Technician. This is a permanent, full-time salaried position. The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter and be self motivated, with a very strong work ethic. They will be able to "lead their own parade" and work unsupervised for extended periods in steep adverse terrain during all weather conditions.

Job Duties:

The successful candidate will install inventory sample plots and collect inventory data on field data recorders. Pole and saw timber as well as vegetation and down wood are inventoried as part of the protocol. The majority of the work in the first year will be in NW Oregon and SW Washington.

Requirements:

  • Must have at least an AS in Forestry with demonstrated coursework in Forest Mensuration.
  • Two seasons of forest inventory experience.
  • Open minded and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges, tasks, and projects.
  • Self-motivated, high level of work ethic and able to work unsupervised for long periods of time.
  • Willing to travel extensively and for long periods away from Philomath throughout the PNW.
  • Be a licensed driver with a clean driving record (no DUI).
  • Own a 4WD vehicle and be willing to use it on the job (mileage compensation provided).
Compensation:
  • $2500 per month

Restoration Ecologist / Forester

IRM is currently recruiting a full time, salaried Restoration Ecologist / Forester to take a lead role in managing projects for our growing company. This position will be based either out of our Philomath or Eugene, Oregon offices in Western Oregon. This position will be responsible primarily for managing oak and other forest restoration projects, but may also include small to large-scale forest inventory contracts, timber cruising, sale layout and administration of restoration oriented timber sales. The work environment will likely involve 50% in the office analyzing data, report and grant writing, logistics planning, and 50% field work involving restoration field recon and planning, layout, herbicide application, other manual labor, and contractor supervision. This is an ideal position for a highly motivated individual interested in stepping into a position with major responsibilities and challenges in a small but highly reputed environmentally progressive forestry consulting firm.

The successful candidate will exhibit a wide range of skills necessary to operate in the highly competitive consulting forestry world. This person should have expertise in the field of restoration ecology with a minimum of two years experience conducting oak restoration projects. Other experience required includes forest inventory and cruising systems used in the PNW, excellent oral and written skills, proficiencies with the full range of forest technology including software used to complete projects, and a working understanding of the range of silvicultural systems used in the PNW, both industrial and alternative.

  • Must be completely competent with the use of PC's including the following programs: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS IE, ArcGIS.
  • Field experience with Trimble GPS Units.
  • Ability to perform field work in a variety of weather and topographic conditions.
  • Two years work experience - preferably in forestry consulting.
  • Open minded and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges, tasks, and projects.
  • Self-motivated, high level of work ethic and able to work unsupervised for long periods of time.
  • Willing to travel extensively and for long periods away from Philomath or Eugene throughout the PNW.
  • Be a licensed driver with a clean driving record.
